The heavy Weights of Mass Spectrometry

presented by

Gary Kruppa
Bruker Instruments

June 26, 1997

The Scripps Research Institute, W.M. Keck Foundation Amphitheater

Background:

Gary received his B.S. in 1982 from the University of Delaware where he conducted research with Professors Doug Ridge and Fred McLafferty. He then obtained his Ph.D. at Cal Tech, focusing on "Studies of Gas Phase Energetics of Ions and Radicals." Following the completion of his doctoral program in 1988, Gary headed to Switzerland for a two year post-doctoral research position with Professor John Meier at the University of Basel and at Ciba-Geigy AG. Returning to the States, Dr. Kruppa started at Bruker in 1990 as an Applications Scientist and has now been working as their FTMS Product Manager for the last 4 years.

Abstract:

Recent advances in the use of shielded magnets with FTMS instruments have made practical the use of high field systems (7.0 Tesla and 9.4 Tesla). The power of electrospray FTMS for protein analysis is also being recognized by many researchers.
